California Garden/California Dreamin’…
“California Garden” is the theme of this year’s Elegant and Enchanting Garden Tour. We will be exploring the true essence of California Gardens. To some it reflects a plant palette of plants from the Mediterranean, to some it evokes the Old West, and to others it is the opportunity to have a year round space where there are no boundaries to the imagination. We will travel into the hills of San Clemente and visit a true California Ranch Garden, then on to a Landscape Architect’s succulent garden with a view of the ocean. We will explore a small cottage behind the San Juan Capistrano Mission which pushes the limits of an artist’s creativity. While touring a New England inspired garden, there is the feeling of the East Coast. We notice it denotes something truly Californian with its movie theater and stables. Come join us as we celebrate what California Gardens are…
The Rose Society of Saddleback Mountain has, for over 25 years, been offering its members and guests the experience of seeing first hand some of Southern California’s most beautiful gardens. We hope, from these experiences, you will glean the California Garden is ever changing and always affords the opportunity to redefine what living in California is all about.
The Rose Society of Saddleback Mountain has, in the last nine years, awarded over $50,000 in Horticulture and Plant Sciences Scholarships to worthy recipients. Last year we embarked upon a partnership with Fullerton Arboretum to fund two Rose specific internships at their facility. These internships gave students the ability to have a “hands on” arboretum experience. Our scholarship programs include students attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State University Fullerton, and Saddleback College. Garden Tour proceeds facilitate these very important endeavors and fund the maintenance of the American Rose Society designated “Year of the Rose” garden at the Mission Viejo Library. This garden was designed and planted in 2002 and redesigned in 2012 by our members.
Come share the beauty! A Pre-Mother’s Day Event!
